Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Since 1972, St. Vincent Healthcare has provided specialized intensive care to newborn and premature infants throughout eastern Montana and northern Wyoming. The 22-bed NICU at St. Vincent Healthcare is certified as a Level III with the State of Montana.
We provide comprehensive, intensive and progressive care for premature infants and critically ill newborns with respiratory distress, infections, birth defects and special developmental needs. Our NICU features the most technologically advanced equipment to care for your new baby, as well as a very skilled staff of neonatal nurses and neonatologists.
Every member of the NICU medical team meets strict requirements and training, plus many have earned special certifications. The NICU medical team includes:
- 4 board certified Neonatologists (Pediatricians who are newborn intensive care specialists)
- Specially trained neonatal nurses
- Respiratory therapists
- 24/7 OB/Neonatal Transport Team
St. Vincent Healthcare NICU provides care for babies with the following:
- Congenital anomalies, including congenital heart disease
- Disorders of the central nervous system
- Infant of diabetic mother
- Infection
- In-Utero growth problems
- Prematurity
- Respiratory disorders
- Substance exposure
Medical services include:
- Comprehensive care for all newborns, of any gestational age or birthweight
- Consultative services of pediatric subspecialists
- Pediatirc surgery consulative services
- Advanced imaging including CT, MRI and echocardiography
- Ventilators, oxygen, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring and respiratory monitoring
